A long awaited restaurant in Bristow.
I’ve been waiting for this place to open, but as I’m only in the area when I’m visiting…it’s seemed like a long time on the making.
I was nervous to visit after reading some of the reviews. Especially the couple reviews that commented on the service being slow or rude, items no bring available, prices being too expensive, and the food taking too long to come out.
So first…we ate brunch.
And, to those reviews I say ‘get over yourself’. About items missing from the menu… THAT’S A GOOD SIGN (you jerks). That’s means the items really ARE fresh, and that they’re popular! The food did take a little while to come out, but it’s all fresh and there was only one chef for brunch. Prices were great, we had three meals and two drinks it was only $31, soooo not expensive at all!!!
The biscuits and gravy: a fresh take on a thick-country-classic (and I know biscuits and gravy well). The biscuits were fluffy and the the tops were nice and buttery (the perfect salty buttery). And then the gravy was a little thin with crumbly sausage. I would suggest more pepper, but it’s on the table so I added it myself.
The Bananas Foster French Toast: sweet, eggy, delicious, filling, yum!! You are served three pieces of toast, cut in half (so six portions total), topped with syrup, sliced almonds, seared bananas, and a dollop of whipped cream. And the whipped cream was definitely fresh whipped cream. You almost couldn’t feel it in your mouth.
The chicken and waffles: deep, fluffy, fresh! The star of this dish is the chicken. Juicy, flaky, plump, flavorful…they could’ve had another piece on the plate and that would have made it perfect! The waffles we’re deep and rich, thick and hearty. I was expecting sweet Belgian style, but no! All paired with a bourbon syrup that was thin, and flavorful.
The only thing about this place is their coffee…lol. Their server was amazing!! Super funny, engaged, knowledgeable, and well versed.
WINS: fresh food, great style, convenient location.
CONS: if you want to get picky, food comes out a little slow, but seriously … it’s fine.
